More to follow I promise – work’s been crazy, trying to finalize a California trip for next month, and life in general has been hectic – but better days and some actual posts are on the way!!
Another year down, another year upon us.
Another chance to resurrect this old blog o’mine.
Hopefully *1* post [at least] a week for a year can be completed. For once I’ve got lots to say and much more to talk about.
Will this year end up like all the rest or will it truly be a new dawning of being the guy that I always wanted to be.

The worst thing about home renovation is that sticking to a budget is a pain in the ass. You budget out for X, Y, & Z, but in the process of doing X, A needs to be done. Then when doing Y, B should also be done. It seems like you’ll never get to Z and be finished with it all.
We decided to redo our front step area since it was deteriorating and really was a hazard for anyone to use to get into the house. We’d really not have anyone break a leg trying to visit us, thank you very much. That lead to us having to redo the stairs leading to the house as well as refinishing the stucco on the exposed foundation so that it all matches.
All this was of course after we bought The Little One a swing set which necessitated us to have our backyard deck & pool ripped out. In doing so, we saw that the deck around the pool served as a faux retaining wall which meant we needed to have a 25 foot long by 5 foot tall section added, lest my backyard get caved in on by 4-5 tons of dirt [approximately, but not really. alot of dirt though]. It also meant the concrete patio under the deck had to be smoothed out and bricked/paved as well as the backyard itself being levelled. So for the past week ad a half or so, I’ve got mounds of dirt everywhere, I have a Beetle sized dirt over in the middle of my backyard and my bank account is slowly dwindling.
On the bright side once everything is done, it will look really nice and we’ll have a place to hang and chill out in.
My mother in law passed away yesterday morning which was completely unexpected. That in and of itself is tough on my wife and her dad.
But when my almost 2 year old looks around and says ‘Grandma?’ in that quizzical tone, as in, where is she, well that just breaks my heart.
Last night’s loss to UNC was disappointing on several levels. It showed our inconsistency in scoring – too many scoring droughts – and what was supposed to be our strength – defense – was nowhere to be found. We got down early in the first 10 minutes of the game, then took a decent ead into the lockerroom at halftime. Unfortunately in the second half once UNC went on their run, we had no answer. It’s like we spent so much energy just catching up that there was nothing left in reserve to keep up.
At this point I’m guessing a #2 seed out in the Midwest so long as we have a strong showing the ACC Tournament.

So last night’s game against the Demon Deacons gave me major agita. We played behind most of the game, and could never get things going with a run here, a defensive stop there. Once we tied the game up I figured our hirses would take over in the extra session.
But no.
A slip screen lead to a nice bounce pass to said screener for an easy layup. Of course this was after we got called for travelling on a defensive rebound with a Wake Forest player on the floor. He couldn’t have caused the travel could he have?
Apparently not.
Oh well. There’s plenty of season left, then the ACC tournament, then the Big Dance. We’ll certainly be back, hopefully on top.
