Is this what I’m in for??

These pictures may look like serious tail-gaters, people waiting for the latest gaming console or indie rock fans desperate for Sujan Stevens tickets, but, alas, no – these are actually taken from the parking lot of PS 236 in Mill Basin. Why? Parents are very eager to sign up their children for coveted pre-kindergarten places.

What’s utterly hilarious is that one of the parents on line complains about how the city should have more Pre-K classes because of all the taxes that they pay.  Come out by me, and then you can compain about real estate taxes!!

Now granted, pre-k for the little one is 4 years away, so I guess now would be a good time to start looking for something near by and how difficult it is to get them into the program.  Luckily I have experience with waiting on line & camping out overnight – Xbox 360, NY Yankee tix, NY Knick tix.   Being that there are 4 schools in the area, I can’t imagine being shut out of any of them.  And since we researched the school district before we moved here, I’m fairly confident that no matter where she ends up, it will be a quality place.  Otherwise Ii am taking my tax money and going somewhere else!!

It’s Pre-K. I went to it, but really my folks said it was nothing.

Go online. Talk to teachers. Find out what they teach .etc and eitehr do it or hire a tutor. Unless you’re looking for an expensi ve babysitter. Why bother? It’s Pre-K, it’s not like u can fail K or theres a prerequisite.

The little daycare/preschool /school I’m putting my daughter in come August actually goes up to 8th grade… so I don’t really have to stress until she gets to high school! I really wouldn’t start researching now. It’ll only make you loony. I started looking when mine turned 1… stressed me out too much.
