I knew we were in trouble when I came home around 8:30 and the Duke game was on. Their first round game usually gets bumped because they are routing the other team and CBS goes to a more competitive game. Well last night’s game *was* the most competitive game of the night. The only difference between Belmont and Duke last night is that they had 2 guards who could get to the rim at will, they shot the 3-ball better, and they had nothing to lose. We on the other hand made as many free throws as they attempted, & were led by Gerald Henderson’s 21/7/2/5. He also hit the game winner when no one slid towards him as he drove the length of the court. While Belmont’s big men were capable, that wasn’t what gave us trouble. It was the penetration of their guards and lack of interior defense that almost cost us the game. And to think Demarcus Nelseon was the ACC Defensive POY - apparently we forgot to tell Belmont that.
