Had a wonderful birthday party for the Kelseynator this weekend over at East Buffet. So much food and everyone had a good time. The clown we hired to do face painting and balloons was a big hit too. I’m just glad it’s all over because I was really sick and tired of running around trying to get everything in order. Good thing 1st birthdays only come 1 time!!

So the Knicks hired Mike D’Antoni as our coach. He comes into a big mess after being unable to take the Phoenix Suns to the next level. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say the talent level drop off between the two teams is substantial. I think one of the things he had going for him was that he’s known to make due with what he has and turn a bad situation into a better one. Granted his rep was made over in Italy, but that should count for something, right?

Our next two weekends are for once, free of anything to do. The past 6 weeks have been one get together after another. It will be nice to be able to relax and hang out at home for a change.

Countless hours at the mall, boutiques, out of the way shops, and online sites – and still we can not find a jacket for the Kelseynator. It’s not that we haven’t found one that we like – it’s that we can’t find any at all to choose from. It’s the weirdest thing – no jackets seem to have been made this spring. Not a one. Hopefully it warms up fast so we won’t have a need for one.

Finally some sense comes back to MSG. First Isiah loses the Presidency, and now hopefully his coaching spot. Then to bring in Mark Jackson as either coach or GM – double win. I don’t care if he’s never held either position before. He’s smart, has a great basketball IQ, and will bring the passion back that has been missing the last 3-4 years. It may even make me put my name on the season ticket waiting list.

Ever since the New Year, all I’ve heard from the local weather people is how we haven’t gotten any snow. And of course, every weekend I think they’ve jinxed us and we’re gonna get hit with 12 feet of snow.

Well this was the weekend that it finally fell in Long Island.

Granted it only snowed for about 20 minutes, and was a dusting if that. But if within the next 3 weeks we get snowfall that actually lasts, I am gonna be p.o.’d big time. Why must they tempt fate and remind us how much snow we had last year compared to this? Leave it be, I say. LEAVE. IT. BE.

In unrelated news, the babies in the Kelly and Regis Cutest Baby contest have been selected. The Kelseynator wasn’t among those chosen, and it’s a good thing because she would have won in a rout. I mean, come on, is this not the cutest face you’ve seen today??

Rout I tell ya….

Dear Kelsey,

I’m not naive enough to think that you will remain as pleasant and easy going as you are now. You will grow up to be your own person, with your own thoughts, opinions and ideals. Maybe we’ll agree on some things, disagree on others and fall in the middle on everything else. But you know what? Mommy and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So as you grow up and experience all that there is in life, please remember this; They say in life there are only 2 guarantees – death and taxes. But you can add a third one, and that is – if I ever catch you smoking a cigarette, cigar, or heaven forbid, anything else, I *will* beat your ass. I mean, just take a look at this –

Smoking Video – The most amazing home videos are here

And I hate to think what Mommy will do – she’s a black belt in karate, don’t forget!!

Love you, mean it!!
2. what is your reason? I am for having multiple kids, but don’t know if we can quite afford it.
3. private or public school? Living on Long Island means high taxes which means excellent public schools.
4. which languages will you raise them with? English, the little bit of Tagalog that I know, and Brooklynese
5. pay for college, yes or no? Hopefully they inherit my wife’s smarts and get scholarships everywhere. Otherwise help them out.
6. buy them a car when they are of age? Not sure – we’re currenltly a 1 car family and living on LI, you *need* a car to do anything. Whatever they end up with, will definitely be a used one that’s for sure.
7. how much is reasonable to spend for xmas/<strike>hanukkah/winter holidays if</strike> you celebrate? Are you kidding? I already know I’m going to spoil our little girl. I have accepted this as fact.
8. will you buy designer clothes? Not until she stops growing. But definitely nothing at all with wording on the butt.
9. sah or daycare/ nanny? Grandma-care at our house/in Brooklyn.
10. what religion for your kids? Catholic
11. fave boy and girl name? I don’t really have any favorites, what I like changes from day to day. Right now we’re looking at Gabrielle, Hailey, Kasey, Sydney & Kelsey.
12. extracurriculars you want your kids to do, before they can choose their own? Anything sports related, though starting off by running around the cul de sac with the other neighborhood kids is definitely a good start.
13. Will all children have their own room or will they share? We have room for each kid to have their own room. Provided we stop at 2.

What’s utterly hilarious is that one of the parents on line complains about how the city should have more Pre-K classes because of all the taxes that they pay. Come out by me, and then you can compain about real estate taxes!!

Now granted, pre-k for the little one is 4 years away, so I guess now would be a good time to start looking for something near by and how difficult it is to get them into the program. Luckily I have experience with waiting on line & camping out overnight – Xbox 360, NY Yankee tix, NY Knick tix. Being that there are 4 schools in the area, I can’t imagine being shut out of any of them. And since we researched the school district before we moved here, I’m fairly confident that no matter where she ends up, it will be a quality place. Otherwise Ii am taking my tax money and going somewhere else!!

People move. They get married. Have babies. I think…no, I know it’s jealousy at its core but I don’t have to like people moving on and leaving me behind. Boo.

Saw this post on her blog and it hit me. No matter how much I want things to change and remain the same, things are constantly changing and staying the same. I know that doesn’t make a lick of sense no matter how many times you read it, but that’s about how I’m feeling. Maybe it’s a sign of growing up or even maturing. Maybe it’s a realization that life does go on, no matter how hard you try to hold on to what was. Maybe it’s my expectations are to high and people whom I thought had the same values and principles that I did, actually don’t. Or rather, have a different spin on things.

I don’t know that I feel this way because of the impending birth of my baby girl. Oh, have I written it’s a girl??!! It is – we found out just after Christmas, as in the 26th. We wanted to find out before and let everyone know on Christmas Day, but schedulilng conflicts prevented that. Everything is going well, we’ve been to lamaze class, the maternity ward tour, baby care & baby cpr class, have registered at BabiesRUs, and at this point, are just waiting around for her to come on out. She’s officially 32 weeks today so another 8 weeks left.

8 weeks till my life changes completely.

Just goes to show that life does go on, whether you want it to or not. It’s up to you to decide to keep up or get left behind.
