Halloween’s Gonna Suck

Prime Rib Saturday

Surprisingly, I wasn’t able to get online yesterday because I was putting together a prime rib dinner for my sister, bro in law, godchildren and cousin. Usually I’m able to sneak away and check stuff online but I was way to busy and just plain forgot. And when I did remember, a little after midnight, I was in no mood to post anything.
I almost forgot to take pics – I did forget the before pic of the roast – and the after pics weren’t anything special. I cannot believe that I left the roast in way too long than was needed. I think in the back of my mind I wanted to make sure that it was done the way everyone liked it – medium well, yuck!! Instead of taking it out at medium rare-ness and finishing up their pieces on the grill. Needless to say I was very disappointed no matter how much they enjoyed dinner. The roasted potatoes came out fabulous but would have been a notch better had I remembered the carrots.

At least the football games were decent, with 2 more on tap today!!

No other way to say it other than the Kiddo is pregnant. If my calculations are correct it took us roughly 2 weeks to get pregnant. Of course that was proceded by 4 weeks of over thinking and analyzing on our parts. But hey, that’s how you learn stuff, isn’t it?

She hasn’t had any morning sickness at all and her appetite while never great to begin with, is somewhat steady. She’s already sent me out on a curly fry run – I can’t wait for the 2AM ice cream cravings and subsequent run to 7-11.

But all in all, we’re real excited and happy. We’ve been to Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us more times that I can recall and fear that we will soon be given the keys to the place, if not out own shopping carts.

Her due date is May 5th – yes that May 5th – Cinco de Mayo. We’re back and forth between several different names and fully anticpate it going down to the wire in choosing – as in, we’ll be deciding in the delivery room, moments before we sign the birth certificate. Or wherever it is we do end up signing.

So in an otherwise shitty year, some good news is always a good thing.

This past Saturday was a scorcher of a day. So being that my aunt has a 40 x 15 inground pool, it made sense to head over to her place. Now whenever the family gets together, there’s a pretty good chance that a game of Texas Hold Em will break out. This was no exception. It started off that we’d all play online on PartyPoker.net, but it soon escalated into playing for real money. I usually didn’t play too often, preferring to just watch and take in all the action but this time I was needed in order to have somewhat of a decent pot to play for. I ended up winning the first game [$50], coming in third in the second, and splitting the pot in the third [$40]. I was hitting on the River more times that I can remember, and getting very good hands to play with. It was the kind of groove that doesn’t come often for me. And I can’t help but think that being my Dad’s birthday this past Saturday, I had a guardian angel looking out for me I think it was all the cards, flowers and balloons we left at his grave earlier in the day, and he was just showing his appreciation. It makes me smile thinking that even though he’s gone, he is still looking down on all of us and watching over us.

It can’t just be me can it?! Hopefully it will be a shortened day and I’ll be able to get back home for the first time in 5 days. Spent the end of last week and the weekend at my sister’s in NJ and hit up the famed Jersey shore and stopped by my aunt’s house who lives in Southern NJ. Not quite A.C. territory but far enough. All in all it was a good funfilled weekend.

Now if only the day would hurry up..

Passed way at 2:10PM yesterday afternoon after his bout with cancer.

He was a devoted husband, loved father, fun grandfather, caring neighbor, faithful friend.

He was my Dad.
