It showed our inconsistency in scoring – too many scoring droughts – and what was supposed to be our strength – defense – was nowhere to be found. We got down early in the first 10 minutes of the game, then took a decent ead into the lockerroom at halftime. Unfortunately in the second half once UNC went on their run, we had no answer. It’s like we spent so much energy just catching up that there was nothing left in reserve to keep up.

At this point I’m guessing a #2 seed out in the Midwest so long as we have a strong showing the ACC Tournament.

We played behind most of the game, and could never get things going with a run here, a defensive stop there. Once we tied the game up I figured our hirses would take over in the extra session.

But no.

A slip screen lead to a nice bounce pass to said screener for an easy layup. Of course this was after we got called for travelling on a defensive rebound with a Wake Forest player on the floor. He couldn’t have caused the travel could he have?

Apparently not.

Oh well. There’s plenty of season left, then the ACC tournament, then the Big Dance. We’ll certainly be back, hopefully on top.

This is exactly why I can’t watch their games – they lose to teams that they need to beat. They need consistency, active defense, and a nice run before the All Star game. Then maybe I’ll pay attention.

The NHL just started their playoffs. The NBA regular season ends in about a week, and then it’s 40 games in 40 nights on TNT. MLB is almost a month into their season. And pretty soon it will be NFL training camp. All this means, ESPN will be on full time on my tv. Word.

It’s not that we haven’t found one that we like – it’s that we can’t find any at all to choose from. It’s the weirdest thing – no jackets seem to have been made this spring. Not a one. Hopefully it warms up fast so we won’t have a need for one.

Finally some sense comes back to MSG. First Isiah loses the Presidency, and now hopefully his coaching spot. Then to bring in Mark Jackson as either coach or GM – double win. I don’t care if he’s never held either position before. He’s smart, has a great basketball IQ, and will bring the passion back that has been missing the last 3-4 years. It may even make me put my name on the season ticket waiting list.

It turns out that some records must fall while others go on. The Houston Rockets are on a tear, winning their last 22 games – last 10 without Yao Ming. On the flip side, Duke’s 22 game winning streak came to a grinding halt against Clemson in the ACC tournery semis. Fortunately that didn’t cost us a #2 seeding, though it may have cost us playing in the South, and in Raleigh, and instead got us shipped off to the West. The upside on that is no one in that bracket has a dominating front line which has been our biggest problem all year.

It’s going to be tough watching all the games this year on account of it being the Easter weekend – the 12 hours worth of opening games take place on Holy Thursday & Good Friday. The Tivo will be working overtime for sure.

Now it’s off to research the matchups and potential bracket buster games…
